MYCENA

The Mycena artwork reflects growth and especially emphasizes the importance of soil for growth. The dark, charred surface of the wooden sculptures, the gradient colored stems and the deeply grooved, partially translucent grain structure remind us of the simultaneous durability and fragility of the material - and more broadly, all of nature. How do we enable a sustainable way of using the soil and the raw materials it produces without degrading nature.

The possibilities of the material and on the other hand the limits it sets raises the question: can life rise from the ashes? The ash, elm and oak used in the artwork are the same wood species that grow around the village of Fiskars.

This kind of ecological thinking and tradition-based renewal reflects the Fiskars brand, which is why the Mycena artwork has been commissioned for the company's headquarters to reflect the company and its values.
